Fairy Queen is one of the most historically important steam locomotives associated with Indian Railways.
The locomotive was built in England in 1855 for the East Indian Railway Company and served during the early decades of railway development in India.
After retirement and preservation, Indian Railways restored Fairy Queen to working condition in the 1990s.
It subsequently hauled heritage tourist trains and became internationally recognised for its age.
Fairy Queen represents a direct surviving connection to India's nineteenth-century steam railway era.
