Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station

Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station is one of the most unusual modern railway stations in India.

Located in Gujarat's capital city, the station carries the code GNC and is operated by Western Railway. Indian Railways' official station list confirms its code and railway zone.

The station underwent major redevelopment and was inaugurated in its modern form in July 2021.

Its most striking feature is the presence of a five-star hotel building constructed above the railway station.

Government railway material described Gandhinagar Capital as the country's first world-class redeveloped railway station with a five-star hotel building over it.

The redevelopment project itself cost approximately ₹800 crore, while the integrated hotel was intended to support tourism, conferences and visitors to Gandhinagar.

The station architecture includes a modern external facade, upgraded passenger circulation areas and contemporary railway facilities.

Its integration with a large hotel also demonstrates a different approach to station redevelopment. Rather than treating a railway station only as a transport facility, the project combines transportation with hospitality and commercial infrastructure.
